Explained: Everton may have to pay £25.8m and £0.6m salary to sign centre-forward

|

According to Calciomercato, Everton are interested in Christian Kouame and could make a move for the 21-year-old this summer. Kouame has contributed nine goals in 26 Serie A starts for Genoa this season and has caught the attention of the Premier League. His fine form in Italy could see the centre-forward on the move from Stadio Luigi Ferraris, but he won’t come cheap.

Kouame has a £25.8m asking price while Football Manager and FIFA say he currently earns £0.6m-a-year/£11.5k-per-week. Everton are expected to be in the market for a striker when the season comes to an end, with Cenk Tosun likely to be sold after falling out of form and out of favour under Marco Silva.

Richarlison has led the line but he’s not a natural centre-forward, so the Toffees have a void to fill. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has impressed of late, but he’ll need competition and somebody to take the scoring burden off his shoulders. Kouame contributed 22 goals in 40 goals in Serie B last season and has been in decent form since making the step up a division.

Whether Everton will meet his asking price this summer remains to be seen, however.
