Everton will have to identify other targets as Brands rules out one-time PL winner

|

Everton’s Director of Football Marcel Brands has gone on record stating that the Toffees will not make an approach for Roma’s Edin Dzeko.

Brands was speaking on Italian radio network TeleRadioStereo and was asked directly if the Merseyside outfit would offer Dzeko a route out of Roma.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina forward had been tipped to be on the January market as the Serie A outfit look to rejuvenate their roster with younger faces, and deem 32-year-old Dzeko a manageable loss, per reporting by the Daily Star.

The same report by the Daily Star suggested that Marco Silva had personally registered his interest in the former Manchester City forward solving the club’s clear lack of a leading striker.

However, in his interview on TeleRadioStereo, Brands stated: “I reply [to a question on signing Dzeko] by saying that it is not our intention to buy new players in this market window.”

Other possible destinations for the one-time Premier League winner include West Ham United, who will be overjoyed at the news in case they lose Marko Arnautovic.
