Everton under-21s have today ‘battered’ the previous season’s Premier League 2 champions, Manchester City 6-3 at Goodison Park, moving them up to 3rd in the league.

After losing the under-21s Merseyside Derby last week, Paul Tail’s side will have wanted to bounce back from the poor result after having a good start to the PL2 season.

And bounce back is exactly what they did. The blues would take a deserved lead after just 10 minutes, with Charlie Whittaker netting just a few days after scoring in the PL International Cup in a 4-1 win over Hertha BSC.

Everton’s lead would only last a couple of minutes. however, with the visitors equalising through Carlos Borges.

This would not halt the blues’ pressure, retaking the lead on 25 minutes through midfielder, Issac Price. Tait’s side would take advantage of Manchester City’s lapse in concentration, doubling their lead a minute later straight after kickoff. Stanley Mills the scorer of Everton’s third, bringing his goal tally to 9 in his last 9 appearances.

Charlie Whittaker would further emphasise the toffee’s sensational 1st-half performance, adding a 4th goal just before half-time, giving him his second goal of the game and his 5th in 5 games.

Manchester City would come out in the second half with more attacking intent, pulling a goal back just before the hour mark through substitute, Tai Sodje.

The Citizen’s 2nd half-comeback hopes were quickly diminished 7 minutes later, with in-form Tom Cannon getting a well-deserved goal, adding Everton’s 5th of the game.

The blues would hold out a few more attacks before substitute, Francis Okoronkwo would bag his side’s 6th of the game. The attacker must be impressing Paul Tait recently, after having minimal game-time with the under-21s. He put in a fantastic performance against Hertha BSC in the week and has now scored in the PL2 for the first time this season.

Manchester City would grab a late consolation with 10 minutes to play, but it would fail to tarnish what was a brilliant performance for Paul Tait’s side going into a tough run of fixtures over November and December.
