Everton have an interest in Monaco left wing-back, Caio Henrique. According to Sport Witness, the blues have ‘probed’ a deal for the Brazilian in recent months.

Henrique joined AS Monaco from Athletico Madrid in the summer of 2020 for a fee of around £7 million [via transfermarkt]. He would earn himself a move after three successful loan spells in Brazil. Although these loan spells were only on short-term bases, his performances would attract interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, but a move to Monaco seemed to suit the defender.

Since moving to the south of France, the Brazilian has been nothing short of sensational. In his 101 appearances for the club in all competitions, he has provided 23 assists and a further 3 goals on top of that.

Despite Monaco preferring to play a flat-back 4, the stats very much suggest that their full-backs enjoy getting very high up the pitch, which is likely to suit Frank Lampard’s side to a tee.

This season, the 25-year-old has 5 assists and 1 goal in his opening 10 games in the new Ligue 1 season. However, his side has not had the best of starts to the season, sitting in 7th place, a point behind Lille in 6th.

They are also performing rather mediocrely in the Europa League this season, sitting 2nd in their group after 5 games, 3 points behind Ferencvaros and only a point ahead of 3rd and 4th going into the final group game before the knockouts.

Although there is currently no report of a transfer fee being touted, a bid could come in from the blues quite soon.

EFC signed Vitalli Mykolenko in the January transfer window of last season, in the hopes that he would sort out their left-back issues since the departure of Lucas Digne to Aston Villa and in most ways he has.

However, it has recently been suggested that Frank Lampard might want to revert back to his preferred 5-at-the-back formation, playing the Ukrainian on the left of the back 3. This would leave a space for Everton to sign an attacking wing-back. Caio Henrique could be the perfect fit.
