Everton to miss summer bonus as potential buyer priced out of transfer – report

|

It’s not as if Manchester United flooded our bank account with an initial £75million when they bought Romelu Lukaku from us two years ago, but the Red Devils could yet give Everton a welcome summer bonus by cashing in on the Belgian.

The Sun understand that we stand to profit an additional £5million from the Old Trafford side if Lukaku is sold this year, amid interest from the Serie A with Inter Milan.

The Nerazzurri are expected to announce former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte as Luciano Spalletti’s replacement soon, and it is claimed the Italian would prefer our former target man leads his line at the San Siro instead of Mauro Icardi.

However, for Conte to get his man, he will need CEO Beppe Marotta to stump up more than what he seems willing to pay.

The Sun claim Inter are prepared to offer £26.5million and winger Ivan Perisic to sign Lukaku, but the Mirror suggest the figure is actually a straight £50m bid.

Either way, they add United Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward is willing to play hardball over the fee, as the 47-year-old wants to recoup closer to £70million.

That would not only be a blow to Conte and Inter, as well as our hopes of landing a bonus £5million, but the striker himself. Its thought the 26-year-old is ready to move on from Old Trafford after being told he is surplus to requirements by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Nerazzurri have also reportedly agreed to take over Lukaku’s £175,000-a-week contract, already.
