Everton striker has contract terminated

This evening, Everton confirmed that Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon left the club immediately after reaching an agreement to have his contract terminated.

Over the past few days, rumours surfaced that Salomon Rondon was to terminate his contract with Everton and it was confirmed this evening that the two parties have reached an agreement.

Rondon’s contract was due to expire in June 2023, but he and the club have decided to part ways which now means that Everton only have Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Neal Maupay as senior strikers at the club.

Rondon joined Everton in August of 2021 on a free from Chinese outfit Dalian Professional and in his time at Goodison Park, he has been poor in front of goal scoring only 3 goals in 31 appearances.

Love him or hate him, I for one give some credit to Rondon who has called his time at Everton early. He could have easily sat on the bench and got paid, much like some of our recent players.

With Rondon’s departure, and DCL’s recent injury record, this might pave the way for Tom Cannon, who this season is flourishing in the U23s, grabbing 13 goals so far in all competitions, Everton fans want to see the youngster get a chance in the first team and with Rondon’s departure, Cannon will surely get some more opportunities.

Everton who played in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Manchester United the other day, restart the Premier League campaign at home to Wolves on Boxing Day and with Cannon impressing at U23 level, we want to know.

Should Tom Cannon start against Wolves on Boxing Day?
