Everton Show Interest in Colombian Forward

|

Everton have reportedly expressed an interest in Hull City’s Colombian centre-forward Oscar Estupinan, though could face competition for the in-form South American.

Estupinan joined the Tigers last summer from Portuguese outfit Vitoria de Guimaraes, signing a 3-year deal with the Championship club.

Indeed, the 26-year-old contributed an impressive 15 goals in 24 games for Vitoria during the 2021/22 Primera Liga season for Vitoria, prompting a debut call-up to the Colombian national squad in June 2022.

Following his move to the MKM Stadium, the 6ft striker continued his fine run of form, finding the net 11 times in 23 games for Hull City, as well as contributing 1 assist.

It comes as little surprise that Everton would show an interest in such a player, with the Blues struggling for goals throughout the 2022/23 campaign so far, however Hull boss Liam Rosenior insists that his star man is not for sale.

“He’s not going anywhere,” the Hull City manager said. “I’ll fight tooth and nail to keep him here at the moment in the form that he’s in.”

You can’t blame Hull for wanting to keep a hold of the Colombian international, but additionally to the Toffees, fellow strugglers Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Southampton are all keeping tabs on the in-demand forward, alongside some unnamed European clubs.

He would be a smart addition to Frank Lampard’s side, but 12 days into the transfer window without a new recruit is negligence from the club’s board.

The Blues have been linked with a number of forwards, but as of yet no concrete offers appear to have been made.

Only Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom (13) and Coventry City’s Viktor Gyokeres (12) have scored more goals in the Championship than Estupinan so far this season, with Everton reportedly looking at all 3 of the second tier’s leading goal scorers.
