Everton set to make January move for Serie A attacker

|

Everton are interested in making a move for Torino attacking midfielder, Sasa Lukic in January in order to bolster their attack, according to recent reports

Lukic joined Torino back in 2016 for a fee of just under £2 million from Partizan Belgrade and has gone on to play nearly 150 Serie A games for Vecchio Cuore Granata.

In his 6 years at the club, he has managed 14 goals and  5 assists.

Although these stats do not seem to be very eye-catching, they can perhaps be explained by his manager’s preference to play him as a central midfielder rather than as an attacking midfielder, which he is obviously able to do.

The Serbian international is also somewhat of a set-piece specialist, being in charge of penalties and free kicks for his club side.

He is also a prominent figure in the Serbian national side, starting and playing 66 minutes in his side’s opening match in the Qatar World Cup, in which they were unlucky to lose 2-0 to Brazil after a solid 1st half display.

According to TorinoGranata, Everton are interested in signing the midfielder in the January transfer window after his contract talks with Torino seemingly broke down in the summer.

Everton experienced somewhat of a midfield overhaul during the summer window, with James Garner, Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gana Gueye joining the club and the likes of Jean-Phillipe Gbamin, Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes leaving the club.

Despite this ‘overhaul’, Everton still seem to be a bit short of depth in the midfield thanks to injuries to Tom Davies and James Garner recently.

Although the blues will face some competition from the likes of Leeds United for the 26-year-old’s signature, Lukic may be a decent signing to improve the team’s depth if Kevin Thelwell can pull it off.
