According to Football Insider, Everton are interested in signing Wolves ‘Star’, Daniel Podence.

Wolves have had a rocky start to the new Premier League season, sitting 19th in the league, only off the bottom through having a better goal difference than Nottingham Forest.Β

Bruno Lage was sacked last week because of his poor run of form, which saw his side scoring only 5 goals in their opening 12 games.Β

Despite only scoring 5 goals, Daniel Podence has 2 of these, making his contribution to his team’s goals this season a remarkable 40%.Β

Football Insider have reported that Everton are in the market for versatile attackers who are proven in the Premier League and can operate in multiple positions.

The report continues, saying that this season could be the Portuguese’s last season at Wolves, with his contract coming to an end in the summer of 2024.

The 27-year-old, as with most Portuguese players in the Premier League, is represented by the super agent, Jorge Mendes. It is believed Mendes will look to find a new club for Podence over the coming months even though he has been a regular starter for Wolves this season.

Although Everton have not found goals as hard to come by as Wolves this season, it is still very clear that the toffees do still need to invest in attacking reinforcements over the next few windows, with both starting wingers in Demarai Gray and Anthony Gordon struggling to put together a consistent goal-scoring run of form.

Podence might not be the exact player Everton need to be looking at, being very much the wrong side of 20, but on a cut-price deal with Premier League experience, it could turn out to be a well-structured deal.

Kevin Thelwell’s links with Wolves (being former Director of Football before leaving for New York Red Bulls) will probably work into Everton’s hands, giving them an advantage on any deal that might take place.
