Everton keen on ‘Brilliant’ 18-year-old winger

|

Everton are keen on signing Sporting Lisbon’s ‘Brilliant’ 18-year-old winger, Fatawu Issahaku, who is heading to the World Cup with Ghana, according to recent reports.

Fatawu Issahaku made his debut for the Ghanaian national side at just 17 years old, even before he made his professional debut for Sporting Lisbon.

He has been selected for the Ghanaian national team for their trip to the World Cup next week and has been labelled among the Top 10 young players to watch at the Qatar World Cup by Graphic.com. However, with the likes of Inaki Williams and Jordan Ayew in the side, he could struggle for minutes during the tournament.

The winger also made two appearances for his side in this season’s Champions League group stage, helping Sporting finish in a respectable 3rd place behind Frankfurt and Tottenham earning them qualification for the Europa League knock-out stage if they beat Midtjylland in a few weeks.

According to news outlet, A BOLA, Everton are the latest team to hold an interest in Fatawu Issahaku, with fellow Premier League outfit, Manchester United also reportedly holding an interest [via Liverpool Echo].

Although he is yet to score a professional goal at club level, the winger did score on his most recent appearance for the Ghanaian national side in a 1-0 win over Nicaragua, earning himself the Man of the Match award in the game. He is obviously still a highly inexperienced player, but with the amount of quality he has shown for his national team, he could be the perfect fit for Frank Lampard’s side in the future.
