Everton in advanced talks for former Marseille attacker

Everton are in advanced talks to sign former Marseille attacker, Andre Ayew after the 33-year-old’s contract at Al-Saad came to an end last summer, according to recent reports

The toffees confirmed the appointment of former Burnley manager Sean Dyche on Sunday evening after the club sacked Frank Lampard after his side were struggling in the relegation zone, sitting joint bottom of the Premier League table.

Going into the January transfer window, it was widely believed that Everton would need at least 3 attacking reinforcements to aid their fight against relegation.

However, going into the final moments of the window, the blues are yet to sign a single player. Although, that could have just changed.

According to Lequipe, Everton are in advanced talks to sign former Marseille and West Ham attacker, Andre Ayew. The African striker’s contract at Qatari club Al-Saad came to an end in the summer and is available on a free transfer.

Being a free transfer, Ayew does not need to sign for Everton during the transfer window, giving the club more time to complete the deal.

Seeing as Everton let go of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United a few days ago, they now have some funds to use in the transfer window.

However, if they only manage to sign Ayew, they could well be leaving the transfer window weaker than they entered it.
