Everton Forward Desperate to Succeed at Goodison Park

|

Everton forward Neal Maupay has expressed his eagerness to succeed at Goodison Park and has expressed his gratitude to manager Frank Lampard for giving him the opportunity to represent such a historic football club.

In an interview with the Liverpool Echo, the Frenchman stated that his priority is helping to restore Everton’s position as a club that competes at the top end of the table, insisting that the club will indeed accomplish this goal.

“I’m very lucky and grateful to be part of this club, it is a massive club,” Maupay said.

“I want to succeed here, and I want to help put the club back where it belongs because Everton should be fighting for more than survival. And that’s what we are working towards. And we will get there.”

Everton’s summer signing, who arrived at Goodison Park from Brighton & Hove Albion in August, continued his impassioned interview by expressing a need for him to learn the movements of his teammates, with this awareness potentially proving to be the difference between a well-performing side, and one clearly lacking in chemistry.

“You don’t put 11 players on the pitch and, because they’re good players, it will work. I have got to know my teammates.

“I have got to know Demarai [Gray], I’ve got to know Anthony (Gordon), I’ve got to know Dominic (Calvert-Lewin), like how do they play? What do they want? What kind of ball do they want? What kind of run I can make for them? This takes time.”

The 26-year-old has found the net just once in ten Premier League appearances for Everton so far this campaign and has often looked isolated up front since his summer arrival. With so few chances created however, it is little surprise that Maupay has struggled to find the net, but should the ex-Brighton man succeed in his desire to improve his knowledge of his teammates, perhaps we will see a much more potent version of the forward as the season continues to progress.

Will the Frenchman be a success at Everton?
