A newspaper in the United Kingdom has put together what they call the £150million flop squad.

The team comprises of players who made their moves in the Premier League over the summer, with Everton featuring quite heavily with three players named in the squad of sixteen.

Daily Mail put together a squad of 11 players and five substitutes and included two of Roberto Martinez’s acquisitions from Wigan and also included Marouane Fellaini who made the move from Everton to Manchester United after David Moyes finally made a realistic bid for him.

Infact the newspaper made Fellaini, captain of the side, although this shouldn’t be seen as a positive: The Belgian would probably don the armband in this XI. It was soon levelled at the 25-year-old that he was not in the class of player normally associated with the Red Devils.

And, during the opening quarter of the campaign, he has done little to disprove that theory.

Pretty damning although I’d probably say it’s harsh, having seen him play for a number of years we all know his capabilities and at 25 it’s hardly time to write him off.

So what about the two incoming Everton players named? Well they are Arouna Kone who cost in the region of £6million and Antolín Alcaraz who was free.

Now Antolín Alcaraz seems an unfair admission. Yes he’s yet to kick a ball but the Paraguayan has been injured and has had a hernia operation.

Now if you wanted to be critical, especially as he was his former manager at Wigan you could have looked at his previous injury record and not been surprised, but I’m still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Next up Ivory Coast striker Kone, he wasn’t looking too impressive prior to his knee cartilage operation which has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

So I`d have to admit I’d chalk him up as a flop for now.
