The confirmation from Everton may have come late and after the loan deadline window had closed on Friday evening but we did confirm yesterday evening that centre-half Matthew Pennington had once again headed out on loan but this time his destination was Ipswich Town.

With many believing that there would be a possible loan to fellow Championship side Leeds United given his prior spell with them, I guess few anticipated Portman Road as a destination but it should be a good spell for our Academy graduate and you would think he’ll get plenty of game time as he looks to develop further and progress his own career at Goodison Park.

The now 23-year-old joined us at the tender age of 11 and has worked his way up through the youth level to make his debut at senior level back in August 2015 in the League Cup victory over Barnsley, and he now boasts nine appearances at first-team level to his name, with his maiden club goal coming against Liverpool.
