According to reports in Italy, Everton and West Ham are both targeting Italian centre-back, Gianmarco Ferrari.

The Italian press speculate that Ferrari, who plays for Seria A outfit Sassuolo, would demand a fee in the region of £9 millon.

The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Sampdoria – where his impressive form earned the player a call up to the Italy squad – but has since returned to Sassuolo.

It is thought likely that Ferrari will move on from Sassuolo with the player yet to make an appearance for the side since joining in 2016.

In Ferrari, Everton have been linked with a quality left-sided centre back and for under £10 million the Italian offers good value.

This follows on from reports on Wednesday when Everton were reported to be ‘close‘ to sealing a deal for another left-footed centre half, Ramy Bensebaini.

While the club are unlikely to move for both players, there is no smoke without fire and it seems clear now that Silva and Brands are intent on bolstering the left hand-side of Everton’s defence.

With Everton also being heavily linked with Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Barcelona’s Yerry Mina we could see a star studded back four at Goodison next season.
