Everton ace reveals what’s made him proud in recent weeks – report

The Toffees are struggling right now, but Tom Davies has shared his delight in wearing the captain’s armband with the official Everton website, via the Liverpool Echo, and in doing so offered a glimmer of hope from inside the dressing room.

Davies has worn the captain’s armband on six occasions this season, including Everton’s last two games, even though the 20-year-old carries far less experience than those he leads out of the tunnel each game.

What the academy graduate has shown, however, is that the pressure and burden it carries has not been too much for his shoulders to bear, and instead the midfielder has thrived.

The England U21 international has even now stated that he wants those around him to look for him for inspiration when on the pitch, and that alone offers a glimmer of hope that there is someone on the field trying to ensure things turn around.

“Obviously, being from here and supporting the club gives you that extra lift,” the Liverpool Echo quote Davies telling the club website.

“It’s unbelievable. Leading the team out as captain and seeing all the Evertonians, for me, I couldn’t be prouder.

“I definitely feel like you’ve got to be that leading role in the dressing room and on the pitch. If on the pitch things aren’t going your way people are looking to you.

“It brings my game on a lot really. I know I need to be getting on the ball or doing things I think a captain should be doing.”
