Rarely seen Everton ace hailed for resurging performance after rough season – report

Callum Connolly has not featured for Everton since 2016, but the young midfielder is falling back in love with the game while on loan with Bolton, and earning the praise of Phil Parkinson.

The Wanderers boss spoke to the official club website following the 21-year-old netting his first goal for them during an away win over Birmingham City on Tuesday.

In his only game for Everton, Connolly featured as a second-half substitute filling in for Seamus Coleman against Southampton, and later spent time away from Goodison Park with Ipswich and Wigan, but a second stint with the Latics this term did not see the midfielder fair as well.

He is enjoying a much for fruitful spell with the Trotters, though, and has started three on the bounce now, and showing a steely determination to make a difference for his side.

His desire to affect the outcome of games could come in handy at Goodison Park at present, and is something Parkinson has already taken note of.

“I was pleased with the goal, because it typified the win really,” said Parkinson. “Callum has shown real determination to get onto the end of a great set-play by Luke Murphy.

“When you look at the goal, he’s been prepared to throw his head in where it hurts, and showed more determination to get to the ball than his marker.

“They are the dividing lines that turn a draw into a win.”
