Some Everton fans have been reacting on Reddit, after The Times’ Paul Joyce claimed the board are set to offer Tom Davies a new contract, which will run until 2023.

The Daily Mail’s North Western football reporter Dominic King has also supported Joyce’s claim that Davies will be handed a one-year extension to his current deal, while adding that it will see the England U21 international bank a revamped and improved contract.

The £13.5million-rated midfielder has also been assured that he has a route into Marco Silva’s starting XI, while a loan deal for next season seems unlikely.

Going by the boss’ use of Davies this term, that certainly sounds justifiable, with our Portuguese head coach offering the academy graduate the captain’s armband five times in the Premier League, including against the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

How much his new contract will see him earn remains to be seen, though. But at present, he reportedly earns £25,000-a-week, which makes him the 19th best-paid player currently on the blue half of Stanley Park.
