Morgan Schneiderlin underwent surgery on a serious knee injury in February but has issued a positive update on Instagram after finally ditching the crutches.

After tearing his meniscus, the 30-year-old is now able to walk unaided, has been doing strength exercises on his knee and is working on bending & extending his leg.

Schneiderlin said he’s been on crutches for six weeks after going under the knife, but he’s finally nearing recovery and could be back in time to see out the rest of the season.

The French international made 18 appearances in all competitions before the campaign was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. His last outing came in Everton’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal on February 23, where he came off inside of an hour after damaging his knee.

Schneiderlin was expected to be out for two months, but he’s ended up only missing the Toffees’ 1-1 draw with Manchester United on March 1 and 4-0 defeat to Chelsea on March 8. The Premier League season was originally postponed until April 30, but the date has now been pushed back further.

As per The Athletic, FIFA announced on Monday that the 2019/20 season will be extended indefinitely. The move allows each country’s football authority to determine when campaigns can finish, so Schneiderlin may have time to fully recover before Everton’s next game.
