Everton’s trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Boxing Day was a great day for the travelling fans.

With manager Marco Silva looking for a response following the previous heavy defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, the players provided just that as we took a 5-1 win with goals on the day coming from Yerry Mina, a Lucas Digne brace, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison.

For the stats freaks amongst us, it was also a top flight first as when Mina opened the scoring two minutes in, it was our 7000th goal, making us the first English club to reach that milestone.

It was also our biggest away win in the league going back to September 1985.

Mina was obviously delighted to take his place in our history.

“I am so proud to score such a significant goal for the football club. For me, personally, it was a special goal but it is also a celebration of all the famous names who have scored for this great team. To be the first club to reach 7000 goals demonstrates what I knew when I arrived here – that it is an important club with a big history.”

It’s a busy time for the Everton history books as when we take to the pitch to face Brighton and the Amex Stadium this weekend, it will also mark 4,500 games in the top division and that will again be a first for Everton – Liverpool and Arsenal are joint in second in that particular table having played 4,115, 334 fewer matches.
