Ronald Koeman has said it ‘is not a clear situation’ as far as Ross Barkley’s Everton future is concerned.

The majority simply don’t really care what happens with the England midfielder anymore – well those to vote in our poll anyway.

What did the poll ask?
Where will Barkley be in August?

How you voted
I don’t really care anymore 47%
At Everton… until the end of the summer window 26%
At Everton 15%
Tottenham 8%
Somewhere else 4%
Arsenal 0%

Much like the Romelu Lukaku situation, which dragged on and on with gossip and rumour until he eventually completed a transfer to Manchester United, the future of Barkley has been subject of much speculation.

Koeman has been asked for an update on Barkley, 23, but he couldn’t offer anything, aside from the fact his future on Merseyside remains unclear and will remain that way until he’s fit, which he currently isn’t and that’s why he didn’t head to Africa.

He told the Liverpool Echo: ‘At the moment it is not a clear situation. He is not fit, that’s the reason he didn’t travel with the team. We will see when he is fit and back, but everybody knows his situation, and we will see what will happen.’

Barkley isn’t going to fetch the £50m Everton are looking for, much the same as Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson shouldn’t but given the fact the Blues’ midfielder only has 12 months on his Toffees deal most definitely not.

If he’s staying at Goodison Park or going can we simply get it resolved as it’s way past boring now.

Regarding further arrivals Koeman went on to say ‘we are close to having the right squad’ and he was happy with the additions made as they will ‘make the team stronger and give the team competition’ but the boss is still keen on another player or two.

Adding: ‘We are expecting maybe one or two players more to come in. It’s really important to already have the players in (when the season starts) because they need the adaptation, to learn how we like to play. And of course we know that we need to be ready in two weeks for the start of the Europa League qualifying. It’s good that most of the new signings are playing now for Everton, and it’s credit to the board of Everton that they did really good business, which is what the team needs.’

  • LOL Bob. I think the sums need a little to be desired but get what is meant as it’s tiresome now isn’t it and as much as he’s one of our own it’s dragged on too long now hasn’t it.
