SSC Napoli midfielder Allan is keen to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti and join the Italian head coach at Everton, according to Il Mattino via Sport Witness.

Allan played 61 times under Ancelotti during the three-time Champions League winner’s tenure in Naples, and has emerged as a January target for the boss after being faced with an injury-ravished midfield at Goodison Park.

Ancelotti is yet to be able to call upon Andre Gomes or Jean-Philippe Gbamin as a result of the pairs’ respective long-term injuries, while Gylfi Sigurdsson is also currently sidelined with a groin issue and Fabian Delph has been on-and-off the injury report all season.

The constant issues to have befallen our midfielders this term is said to have left Ancelotti keen on January arrivals to improve his options, and that he personally contacted Allan earlier in the window to discuss a move.

Allan is tempted to accept his former head coach’s offer and become the latest addition at Goodison Park, where there is yet to be a player arrive in the winter market following the seven who signed permanent deals last summer.

Rio de Janeiro-born Allan considers his career at the San Paolo Stadium to be over, while Il Mattino claims the nine-time Brazil international’s family would like to begin a new chapter of their lives away from Naples.

Eduardo Uram, Allan’s agent, has also put contract negotiations with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis on hold for the time being as a result of his client’s temptation to leave the San Paolo Stadium.

But Everton are yet to make a firm offer for Allan’s services, which has left the central midfielder hoping that Director of Football Marcel Brands makes an official approach in the final days of the January window.

A deal for Allan would likely be expensive, even with the midfielder’s willingness to join the club being a huge boost, as reports by Il Mattino earlier in the week claimed De Laurentiis will not part ways with the 29-year-old for anything less than €80million (£67.6m).

They also noted that Ancelotti considers Allan to be his ‘dream’ signing ahead of Friday’s deadline, and that the Italian could return to his interest in the Brazilian in the summer if midfield reinforcements are still considered necessary.

In other Everton news, the club’s hesitancy could see Carlo Ancelotti miss out on signing a 41-cap midfielder this month.
