‘Absolute nerves of steel’ – Some Everton fans react to 5 ft 8 star’s latest display

Richarlison joined Everton last summer, and soon became a key member of Marco Silva’s Merseyside squad with vital goals to kick off their respective careers at Goodison Park.

The Brazilian winger soon took his impressive form onto the international stage with the Selecao, too, as he made his debut against the USMNT in a 2-0 win in September.

He has now reached 13 appearances for his country, with his latest outing coming in the Copa America Final against Peru, as Tite called on the 5 ft 8 star to come off the bench with Brazil a man down and only holding a one-goal lead.

Richarlison may only have had fifteen minutes to make a difference, having been forced to sit out the previous rounds after being diagnosed with mumps, but made his presence at the Estadio do Maracana felt from the penalty spot as he struck what would prove to be the winning goal in the 90th minute.

The penalty was actually the 22-year-old’s only shot of the Final after a rather discreet display, featuring one attempted dribble, nine passes and one aerial duel. Richarlison also lost possession three times, but Brazil were triumphant and lifted their first Copa America since 2007.

Everton fans reacting to Richarlison’s summer success were quick to share their praise for the winger, while some questioned why he could not score from the spot against Southampton in a similar manner.

Here’s how these fans reacted…
