Marco Silva’s time in charge of Everton has been mixed, to say the least, and now Jose Mourinho has been tipped on talkSPORT by Danny Murphy to succeed his compatriot.
The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss is currently out of work having been sacked by the Red Devils for an abysmal run of form that saw the Old Trafford outfit look lost outside the European places.
Mourinho’s form was similar to that of Marco Silva’s in reality, as the former Watford boss is struggling to guide the ship towards the sought after top six and looks lost of ideas on the touchline at times.
With the pressure mounting on Silva to deliver, even despite Farhad Moshiri’s vote of confidence, the board could well be looking at who can come in and rescue the season like Sam Allardyce was able to last year when Ronald Koeman could not cut it on Merseyside.
It is unlikely that they would be considering Mourinho, but, speaking to Jim White on Monday, Murphy stated: “I don’t think it is that crazy a thought because of the financial clout they have got.
“I don’t know if all Evertonians would go for that. He is a certain type, he is very Marmite, Mourinho, and it could be an expensive risk.
“It is one of those things where that could happen further down the line. If Everton are looking bigger and want to compete, why not get a manager who has competed?”
Mourinho being like Marmite certainly sums up the reactions on Twitter to the former Liverpool midfielder’s proposal…
I stop reading as soon as I see Danny Murphy! What does know about anything, worst so called football pundit ever!!

I may be in the minority but I’d love it if we got Mourinho.

We havent got 500m to spend in summer then 200m per window after and with Brands being here and building a young squad to compete long term Jose is not the right person for that.

If the best chef in the world took on a cafe that had out of date food and staff with a bad attitude it would be a difficult job

Has he been given £999b to spend? That’s the only way he’ll be successful. He can’t coach but he can try to buy success
