Many Everton fans have been reacting on social media after the club shared that Yerry Mina had been named in EA Sports’ latest Team of the Week for FIFA 20.

Mina has been included in the 23-man squad for his performance against Watford at the weekend, after scoring a first-half stoppage-time brace to ensure we did not enter the break on the back foot.

The Hornets had stormed into an early lead after Adam Masina drilled home into the bottom corner on ten minutes and Roberto Pereyra calmly slotted a second past Jordan Pickford approaching half time.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees were severely struggling to gain a foothold in proceedings at Vicarage Road, but were given a glimpse of hope in the first minute of added time when Mina prodded home a goal-line scramble.

The £120,000-per-week centre-half then added another moments later, after dropping Craig Cathcart at the back post to head in unchallenged and become the first Everton defender to score twice in a Premier League game since Leighton Baines against West Ham United in September 2013.

Should Mina score more often from corners?

Mina is the only Everton player to have been named in EA’s TOTW, which features Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino, West Ham’s Robert Snodgrass and former Premier League players Angel Di Maria, Santi Cazorla and ex-Toffees striker Romelu Lukaku.

Along with his two goals at Vicarage Road, Mina recorded 73 touches, 43 accurate passes (77%), won five aerial duels (42%), made four clearances and three successful tackles (100%), per WhoScored data.

In other Everton news, the club face paying £30m to sign a rumoured target in the summer after seeing offers rejected in January.
