‘Wow’, ‘Love to be proven wrong’ – Many Everton fans react to Silva’s surprising plans

|

Marco Silva has caught some Everton supporters by surprise, after the Daily Mirror revealed the boss plans on introducing youth sensation Ellis Simms to the first-team next season.

The prolific teenager was expected to spend the upcoming term as part of David Unsworth’s Under 23s, having scored 46 goals across all junior competitions in the recent campaign, including 32 in just 21 U18 Premier League fixtures.

Silva, however, has informed the 18-year-old that he should expect to make his senior debut in the upcoming season, and spend regular training sessions in and around the first-team, as per the Daily Mirror’s transfer blog (June 26, 19:08).

Simms has already been included as part of the boss’ plans for pre-season and has guaranteed himself a seat on the plane to Kenya for our tour of the country next month.

The Oldham-born product of Blackburn Rovers academy has also been denied a potential loan move away from Merseyside by Silva, as he would prefer the emerging talent finds his path in the game with the Toffees after penning his first professional contract last month.

There had been a number of unnamed EFL sides hoping to lure Simms away from Goodison Park for the upcoming term, but will now have to look elsewhere for their next goalscorer.

Here’s how these Blues supporters reacted when Silva’s plans for Simms was shared on Reddit
