‘Would walk into our first-team’ – Loads of Everton fans rue rival side making £45m deal

|

West Ham United have made a lot of Everton fans jealous, as the Hammers have completed a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller.

The French forward has signed a five-year contract at the London Stadium with the option for a further twelve months, having passed a medical with Manuel Pellegrini’s side on Wednesday morning, according to Sky Sports.

It is believed the deal the Irons have agreed will see the East London outfit smash their transfer record for the third time in little over a year, with Haller thought to have set West Ham back £45million – eclipsing the £36m outlay they spent to acquire Felipe Anderson in 2018.

Eintracht Frankfurt had confirmed that terms of Haller’s move away from the Bundesliga had been agreed on Tuesday morning, leaving only the medical as a potential stumbling block in the 25-year-old’s transfer to West Ham.

The former French youth international joining one of our rivals for seventh place has sparked a lot of chat on Reddit, with Everton fans quick to share their regret in the 6 ft 2 hitman moving to East London rather than Merseyside.

We are still in need of signing someone who is capable of filling the void left behind by Romelu Lukaku, with Cenk Tosun far from the answer and Dominic Calvert-Lewin showing great hold-up play in his outings last season, but without a clinical touch in front of goal.

Haller, meanwhile, was excelling in an Eintracht side that reached the Europa League Semi-Finals, scoring five goals in ten games on the continent – including key efforts against Lazio and Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Ris-Orangis-born Frenchman also hit 15 in 29 Bundesliga games, while also assisting a further nine, for a goal involvement strike rate of one every 90 minutes.

Here’s what these Toffees supporters have had to say on Haller joining West Ham for a reported £45million…
