A few Everton fans have been discussing whether or not Carlo Ancelotti should recall Jonas Lossl to the Blues’ matchday squad after taking charge of the club.
Ancelotti is set for his first game as Everton boss when we host Burnley on Boxing Day, having watched the dire goalless draw with Arsenal from the Goodison Park stands alongside owner Farhad Moshiri and Chairman Bill Kenwright.
The Italian will likely have several key decisions to make over who he fields against Sean Dyche’s Clarets, with Morgan Schneiderlin potentially set to be available and doubt remaining over the fitness of Alex Iwobi.
Lossl could be another player to enter Ancelotti’s thinking, having been left out of our 18-man matchday squad for our last three games by interim head coach Duncan Ferguson.
Should Lossl feature vs Burnley on Boxing Day?
On the bench
Leave him out
Lossl joined the club as a free agent in the summer following his release by Huddersfield Town after their relegation into the Championship, and signed a three-year, £28,000-per-week contract to become a Toffee.
Lossl kept five clean sheets in 31 Premier League games for Huddersfield last season, but also conceded 54 goals as the Terriers finished the campaign bottom of the table having conceded 76 goals – the second-most in the top-flight.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans discussed if Lossl may see a return to the bench in his future now that Ancelotti is in charge…
For what reason exactly? None of us see him in training so whoever is doesnt rate him as good as Stek and certainly not as good as Pickford…

Strange one. Is he injured?

Hope he doesn’t think he’s 3rd choice after seeing Stek on the bench for the last few games

In other Everton news, the club have been named in a European battle to sign a €10m midfielder in January.
