Considering our woeful defensive record last season, it isn’t surprising that we’ve been linked with a host of defenders. The latest name to be linked with a move to Goodison Park is Barcelona’s, Yerry Mina.
As Football 365 reports, Yerry Mina’s agent has refuted claims that the 23-year-old defender has signed for the Toffees, but the agent refused to rule out a potential move.
The Colombian defender impressed during the World Cup, and he even amassed three goals for his national team during the World Cup.
Here’s how Everton supporters have reacted to the rumours on Twitter.
Having watched every Yerry Mina performance for Barca since he signed, I’m a little concerned that we are paying £21m for him. I’d take him on loan with a view to buy, but think it’s a massive gamble to buy him outright. He has potential but is a mistake waiting to happen 😱 #EFC

Should just sign Yerry Mina because he's got an excellent name. #EFC

Would love us to sign Yerry Mina purely so that him & Tom Davies can have a great game together & the headline in the paper the next day could be ‘The Tom & Yerry Show’.

He isn't Ashley Williams or Michael Keane. So… yes.

Not sure as I haven't seen much of him. We need to get some business done though and significantly improve the squad. Currently we are miles behind the top 6 and looking at a top 10 finish being the best we can achieve

Verdict:
There’s no refuting that the 23-year-old is an exceedingly talented player, as has been demonstrated in the World Cup. Nonetheless, it’s always challenging to prize a player away from Barcelona, especially one that illustrates such considerable potential.
If we were able to sign him, it would be a tremendous coup for Marco Silva. Mina is exceptionally talented, and he has the potential to become a truly excellent player.
