‘Would be a massive coup’: Many Everton fans react to reported interest in £22.5m-rated midfielder

Everton fans have been reacting on social media to reports suggesting that the Toffees are after Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka.

Lobotka, valued by TransferMarkt at £22.5million, is the latest player to be linked with a move to Goodison Park with an eye on replacing Idrissa Gana Gueye, should the Senegalese defensive midfielder join Paris Saint-Germain amidst his on-going transfer saga.

The 24-year-old is an established member of the Celta Vigo first-team, and has started all but two of his 14 appearances so far this season, while contributing to a single goal when he assisted Sofiane Boufal’s late strike against Girona.

Everton’s interest in his signature comes despite Marco Silva’s claims that the Toffees will not be in the market for new signings in January, as Le10Sport are reporting that the Goodison Park club are making good progress towards completing a deal.

If Celta Vigo do allow Lobotka to move to Merseyside, Silva could then sanction Gueye’s exit to Ligue 1 as he will be gaining the services of a defensive midfielder who has 13 interceptions, 12 clearances and 659 passes to his name in La Liga this season, as per WhoScored.

The potential of Lobotka becoming a Toffee has certainly got these fans talking…
