As per reports in The Mirror, Everton are monitoring the situation of Croatian attacker Ante Rebic.

Rebic has starred in a Croatian side that has won every game so far. Aside from his notably high energy levels and work rate Rebic’s biggest impact at the tournament was scoring a perfectly executed volley in Croatia’s match against Argentina.

It proved to be a turning point of the game as Croatia went on to build on Rebic’s opener to win 3-0.

Rebic has been on the books with Italian side Fiorentina since 2013 with the Seria A team paying Croatian outfit, RNK Split £4 million for the then 19-year-old.

Now aged 24, Rebic performances at the World Cup are only adding to his reputation after an impressive campaign on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga where he scored 9 goals in 28 appearances – including a brace in the German cup final as his side shocked Bayern Munich to win 3-1.

At the close of the season Frankfurt valued Rebic at £26 million but sporting director Bruno Hubner believes that with his World Cup form he is now worth even more.

The combination of technique and attitude the Croat has displayed is sure to have earned the player a few admirers. Everton will have to fight off competition from Tottenham if they are serious about bringing the combative forward in and with no European football on offer at Goodison that could be a hard sell.

If Croatia and Rebic continue to shine at the World Cup, there may even be a few more suitors.
