“What planet is he on?” – Many Everton fans react as club chief issues endorsement of results

|

Many Everton fans have been reacting on social media after Marco Silva issued an endorsement of our recent results to the club’s official website, stating that the squad are playing with an increased sense of maturity and personality.

The boss has been boosted in spirit after claiming seven points in the four fixtures following the October international break, and oversaw proceedings as we booked our place in the next round of the Carabao Cup.

Silva had been under ever-mounting pressure coming out of the last international break, when he described West Ham United’s visit to Goodison Park as a ‘must-win’ fixture after we slipped inside the relegation places.

We are now six points clear of 18th-placed Watford and only three points behind fifth-placed Sheffield United, and Silva feels our Premier League standing could even be higher had it not been for certain factors at Brighton.

“It is turning – and that is what we wanted,” the boss said. “Before the [October] international break, when we lost how we did at Burnley, I told people we would react, for sure, and we reacted.

“It is good to see our players getting more mature and being stronger in their personalities. We played five games, and we could possibly be talking here about four wins and one draw – this is the reality.

“We could be talking about how the team reacted so strongly and showed the capacity we have. We know why in the previous game [at Brighton] we did not win and we could be in a completely different position in the table.”

Should Silva's job still be under pressure?

Yes, absolutely

He's bought some time

The trip to Brighton on October 26 was our 27th away game under Silva across all competitions, but was also our 14th defeat on the road and marked our eighth-straight Premier League away day without a win.

We were unfortunate not to leave the Amex Stadium with something to show four our efforts, as the game featured the league’s first VAR-awarded penalty even though the Premier League later admitted the decision was incorrect.

Here are some of the reactions shared to Silva’s endorsement of our recent results…
