Richarlison is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, but he’s recovering with Brazil’s national team and should soon be able to step up the intensity in training. The 23-year-old missed Monday and Tuesday’s session, but Brazil doctor Rodrigo Lasmar told Globo Esporte that he’ll train with the group after having no added complaints.

As per Sport Witness, he said: “(Richarlison) presented himself with a little discomfort in his ankle, also coming from a long trip. These two days were important for us to better recover the athlete. He worked very well (Wednesday) morning, he didn’t report any complaints, he felt very well and this gives us a condition to evolve and release him to train together with the group.”

What did Richarlison do to his ankle?

Royal Blue Mersey said in our EFL Cup win over West Ham United on September 30, Richarlison went in for a slide tackle and may have turned his ankle in the grass. The 23-year-old hadn’t long scored in the game but was forced after the hour mark.

He was doubtful ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion but started anyway and was withdrawn after 25 minutes. Richarlison was brought off after being tackled by Tariq Lamptey and is working his way back to fitness.

Our next game is a Merseyside derby with Liverpool on October 17 and Premier Injuries say Richarlison has a 75% chance of playing. Carlo Ancelotti has James Rodriguez, Alex Iwobi, Anthony Gordon and Bernard to call upon, but Richarlison’s absence would be a big loss.

Liverpool are for the taking

It’s been ten years since we beat the Reds and five years since we scored at home in a derby, but we couldn’t face Liverpool at a better time.

The Reds have already conceded 14 goals in six games across the board this season – 1-1 with Arsenal (August 29), 4-3 win over Leeds United (September 12), 2-0 win over Chelsea (September 20), 7-2 win over Lincoln City (September 24), 3-1 win over Arsenal (September 28), 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa (October 4) – and have only won four away games in the last eight months.

Here’s hoping we’ll have Richarlison available as he’s been in fine form (6 appearances, 4 goals, 2 assists) this season.
