“We’ll See”: Everton Boss Not Looking to Add to His Squad in January

|

Everton Women’s manager Brian Sorensen has revealed that his side are unlikely to do a lot of business in the January transfer window, insisting he is happy with the squad at his disposal.

The Danish manager was brought in to the club ahead of the 2022/23 season after a turbulent period at the club which saw 9 players depart, including captain Danielle Turner.

With 3 wins out of the opening 8 games, the Toffees currently sit eighth in the table and are without a league victory since October, but Sorensen has been pleased with his side’s performances and can see the club moving in the right direction.

Sorensen said, “I don’t think we’re going to do a lot in this January window. We’re happy with the squad we have at the moment. If something happens that is out of our control, we will react on that and see where we are but in terms of bringing a lot in, it’s not the case.”

Indeed, having already made 10 new signings in the summer window, Sorensen’s squad is already in a period of transition, and so few will have expected another influx in January, though the Dane was quick to counter that a small number of new recruits wouldn’t be out of the question.

“We can talk about one (player) or something like that but not ten players like we did in summer. We’re definitely not doing that again. We are in the right direction with our squad, and we’ll see.

“If anything comes for us we’ll look at it and if anybody is coming to ask about our players then we’ll also look at it but (we’re) happy as it is at the moment and hopefully a slow and easy transfer window.”

A 3-0 thrashing of Spurs Wednesday evening lifted Sorensen’s side into the top half of the table, ending the final WSL match of the calendar year on a high.
