They might not be bottom of the Premier League pile just yet, but Aston Villa look about as doomed to relegation as anyone.

Three wins all season, five defeats in seven, scoring just 5 goals in those games while conceding (*gets calculator out*) a massive 22.

OK, so you could argue that 8 came against Chelsea and 4 came against Spurs, but 3 came against Wigan, which has proved to be their only victory in 11 Premier League games.

We’ve argued on Vital Everton that Aston Villa were a team in freefall and treading water for a number of years, comments which have always been good for a bit of banter across the Vital Football network, but this season it’s more stating the obvious than having a joke.

So on paper then this should be the easiest three points we take all season, but with that said, that brings its own problems of complacency although with David Moyes in the dugout I’m not sure many of our players will struggle with that.

“They [Villa] haven`t had the luck. The last couple of games haven`t gone their way,” Steven Pienaar told evertonfc.com.

He continued: “They won`t have a lot of pressure because they are away from home, so it could be a difficult game for us. Seeing the way things are going for them, they need all the points.

“Hopefully we can go out there and treat it as a normal game and give it our best from the first minute, work hard for each other and make sure we don`t take things lightly.”
