With Marco Silva currently falling short of delivering the type of football he was brought to Goodison Park for, Everton could call quits on the former Watford boss at any moment.
As always when a manager’s future creeps into doubt, potential suitors raise their heads and reports link any out of work head coach to the role, including Jose Mourinho.
The sacked Manchester United manager was tipped earlier in the month by Danny Murphy on talkSPORT to be an ideal candidate to replace Silva should the axe fall, even if his appointed would be unlikely at this stage.
An even more unlikely name has now been thrown into the ring, however, as Toffee TV have raised the question; Could Everton ever attract Diego Simeone?
Atletico Madrid’s man at the helm has impressed many in world football with his work at the La Liga club, making them an attacking side with a resolute defence, and led the Spanish outfit to two Champions League and two Europa League finals – winning both in the second-tier European competition.
But beyond going from a top three side in Spain to one fighting in the mid-table, thanks to Silva, what makes appointing the Argentine extremely unlikely is that he just side a contract extension until 2022.
Needless to say, then, that there were very few agreeing to the suggestion on social media…
Save you the trouble….. No

Not saying Silva is as good as Simeone but being honest, I really don’t think Simeone could do a much better job in our position and I think way too much pressure is put on Silva.
He makes mistakes sure but this squad needs a major overhaul from top to bottom.

We don’t need simeone -but we do need that Atletico fight till we drop attitude-we need leaders on the pitch Atletico have them we don’t -we need winners maybe not the best players but players with the will to win -example Cahill-Reid -Digne-

When Koeman was manager, Sissoko threw his phone out of a window so he didn’t have to sign for us. But we’re going to attract Diego Simeone? Ok lads. Stop the daytime drinking.

We need to think big. His winning attitude would be great. But Moshiri would have to pony up though.

Would love to feel one day we could be in that position or really act that big to begin with, but even with money we haven’t attracted real quality at manager or player level and have sold our 3 best players…….so sadly no we won’t ever attract him. Nice dream tho ????
