“We Could Do Better” – Silva Wanted More From Everton In The Second Half

|

Friday evening’s penultimate Premier League fixture saw Everton host Burnley at Goodison Park.

Manager Marco Silva’s side remain in the hunt for a potential seventh place finish, although Wolverhampton Wanderers and then Leicester City have the advantage, so victory last night would put the pressure on ahead of Saturday’s fixtures.

And put the pressure on we did, as an incredibly bright start to the game saw us massively dominate the action and we got our reward as Ben Mee was credited with an own goal in the 17the minute as a Richarlison effort deflected off him. Three minutes later Seamus Coleman had made it 2-0 as he got himself on the scoresheet and it looked to be an interesting night.

Despite largely continuing our dominance of the match and restricting them to only one registered effort on target, we couldn’t add to our tally so the game finished at 2-0, but I doubt many will be critical after that.

Now for Spurs.

Speaking to the BBC following the game, Silva said of our performance earlier tonight.

“The players have been doing well. The last 10 games we have had eight clean sheets and have been playing offensive football. The players have been enjoying what they are doing and we have achieved three points again. We were always in control. We deserved those two goals in that moment. I didn’t really like the second half. We were in control but gave some chances to them. We could do better.”
