“We Are Stronger” – Silva Makes Everton Claim Ahead Of A Big Summer

|

It’s been a mixed year for Everton and manager Marco Silva, but with a turn in form in recent weeks, we were looking to bring the curtain down on reasonably decent 2018/19 Premier League campaign and go out on a high as we made the trip to Tottenham Hotspur earlier today.

It’ll be another big summer for the club as we continue our rebuild under the Portuguese gaffer and everyone will be hoping we are more consistent in 2019/20, but we closed the year out with a point from a 2-2 draw and it means we match our eighth placed finish from 2017/18 and now the aim is to move forward.

With Spurs taking the lead three minutes into the game, we created the better chances on the day but Theo Walcott had us back on level terms in the 69th minute and Cenk Tosun gave us the lead three minutes later. Three minutes after that our hosts found a leveller of their own and that was how the game ended.

Speaking to the BBC following the final whistle of the year, Silva said of our efforts.

“To be a top six club in this country now is really tough. We must be realistic for our team. We must work hard and do everything perfectly. We will try, our job is to work really hard every day and improve what we did the season before. I have no doubts we are a stronger team than at the start of the season.”
