With the news yesterday suggesting that Everton were on the verge of completing a £50million move for Watford’s Richarlison, an interesting theory has presented itself online.
For a potential one season wonder, the fee quoted by the media for the 21-year-old is incredibly inflated and a large part of that is no doubt owing to the ongoing issues between both clubs given our initial chase of Marco Silva back when he was their manager.
A turn of form for Watford following our failed pursuit of him back then led to his sacking and the Vicarage Road outfit are still bleating about our involvement now – it was believed there was no chance of any transfer dealings between the two parties.
Whilst it is only a theory and it emanates from the world of social media, there is a lot of sense in the thoughts of one Evertonian as he believes the fee could quietly hide an element of compensation for Silva and he expects that talk to disappear if the deal goes through.
Watford get to gloat about ringing us financially, Everton hold the line of doing nothing wrong and both sides avoid expensive lawyer games and the associated protracted arbitration process.
While we wait for clarification on the Richarlison fee, don't be surprised if the Watford complaint for compensation over Silva disappears. Everton get their player and avoid protracted arbitration. Watford get an aesthetically-pleasing fee when it's really a fee for both. #EFC

He certainly seemed to strike a chord with the Twitter family.
It's just a theory! But if Everton and Watford have been talking for a while over a player deal, the idea that the giant elephant in the room would simply be ignored beggars belief.

It is a theory, but it's a utterly excellent one and i think it's completely correct like!

Make perfect sense that, but it would show us to be even bigger mugs in the end, we owe them nothing

Its very strange that fans get excited about Malcom but fume over Richarlson…..very strange fans!!!

Said the same thing when fee was announced. The only way Watford can sell to us is if there is a ridiculously high fee involved.

A great point, that.

If Silva really wants Richarlison, we have to pay the fee, and I couldn't care less, if Silva compensation is included or not. They could've been doing no business at all with us.

Spot on mate. Funny how it’s gone very quiet with regards to that.

Great point.

That makes sense.

Great shout that,Rob.????

Makes sense. They're not going to do business with us if they still feel like we owe them compensation. This settles all that nonsense…. then we go back for Doucoure ????????????
