“Very impressive” – Many Everton fans react to club figure’s “refreshing” comment

Many Everton fans have been reacting on social media after interim head coach Duncan Ferguson promised there will be a confident performance from the first-team when we travel to Manchester United on Sunday.

Ferguson was installed as the caretaker manager following Marco Silva’s sacking, and will remain in the dugout when we travel to Old Trafford having overseen a stellar performance as we beat Chelsea 3-1 last weekend.

The club had hoped to appoint Silva’s permanent successor in time to face the Red Devils, but were unable to agree on a deal with Shanghai SIPG boss Vitor Pereira.

Ferguson will now lead the Toffees into Old Trafford, and is confident that beating Chelsea has brought an upturn in spirits to the first-team, who had won just twice in Silva’s final 11 Premier League games in charge.

“When you play against the best, you want to show them you’re the best,” Ferguson told EvertonTV. “I am sure that will be the players’ attitude on Sunday. We have to make sure we create chances and get in the final third. We can do that.

Would Ferguson deserve the job full-time if we beat Man Utd?

Yes, absolutely

“Going away to Old Trafford is tough at any time. United have had a lot of positive results recently. They are [coming] off the back of a [Manchester] Derby win and a top team, so it is going to be incredibly difficult, but the players are up for it.

“Saturday was a fantastic result for us and we have confidence because we won the game. We have continued the feel-good factor [in training] and that is what happens when you get a result.”

Manchester United won two of their opening nine league games this season, but have since taken four victories in seven and have moved up to fifth in the table.

The Red Devils are also unbeaten at home to us in our last five visits to Old Trafford, dating back to a 1-0 win for a Roberto Martinez managed side in December 2013.

In other Everton news, the club are plotting a €4million deal to land a striker with 17 career Premier League goals.
