Apostolos Vellios played a major part in Everton’s dramatic 92 minute against Tottenham on Sunday, not that he knew it.

It may not have been overly pretty in the build up, but the 20-year-old’s scuffed overhead kick turned out to be the perfect pass for Nikica Jelavic to pounce on and fire home the winner just moments after Steven Pienaar had headed home to level the game in the final minute.

“I didn`t see it, I only saw the celebrations. I spoke with the guys in the dressing room and they explained the goal to me.’ he told The Echo.

For the Greek U-21 international it was only his fourth substitute appearance of the season, but the young kid has shown a fair bit of potential since he joined twelve months ago, especially when scoring three goals last season and he just remains happy to be ready when called upon.

He continued: “I feel really excited and really happy. When I go on I have to believe, so I believed because we played really well in the first half and we started well again in the second half. So I believed from that and we won.

“In that situation, you have to clear your mind and you have to be focused. You have to learn to listen to the manager and coaches, what they say and what they want, and thankfully we got the result.
