“Uh oh”, “You can’t” – Loads of Everton fans react to Ferguson’s update

Loads of Everton fans have been reacting on social media, after interim head coach Duncan Ferguson voiced hope in having Seamus Coleman fit to face Manchester United on Sunday.

Coleman has been on the sidelines nursing a rib injury since returning to the starting line-up against Norwich City last month, with the 31-year-old forced to watch on as Djibril Sidibe featured in his place against Leicester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Sidibe had been Marco Silva’s favoured option at right-back for the four league games prior to facing the Canaries after losing captain Coleman against Burnley in October, when the Republic of Ireland international was sent off for two bookable offences.

Ferguson is hopeful that Coleman is now over his rib injury and can contend with Sidibe for the right-back role at Old Trafford on Sunday, as he prepares for his second match as caretaker manager.

“Seamus has done a little bit of training and is gradually picking up, so he could come into consideration for the weekend,” Ferguson told the club’s official website.

The interim boss is also monitoring the situation of Lucas Digne, among others, after the French left-back was taken off late in the game at home to Chelsea after sustaining a groin issue.

“Lucas is a concern but we are hoping he could be okay for Sunday,” Ferguson added.

“Theo [Walcott] may not be ready because of the problem he sustained against Chelsea.

“Fabian Delph is similar [to Coleman] – he’s joined in some training but is a doubt. And Yerry Mina has done a bit of training with us, we will see how he is in the next couple of days.”
