French football journalist Manu Lonjon has offered a concerning update over the future of Gabriel with Everton trying to get a deal over the line for the defender in these most complicated of times.
Transfer deals are tough enough to complete in a normal scenario so with the current global pandemic carrying on, it makes things even harder to get deals signed.
And, by the sounds of it, the deal for Gabriel is now hanging in the balance.
The Independent reported not too long ago that the centre-half had passed a medical off-site for the Blues with the idea that it wouldn’t take much more for the club to get the deal done.
However, Lonjon has reported on Twitter that Chelsea are actually leading the race for the Lille man and look set to be the club to sign him in a real twist of fate in this transfer race.

Clearly, or so it seemed, Everton were in charge here but reports away from this country are looking to suggest that, actually, there’s far more at play in this current battle and the Blues could well be left empty-handed as Chelsea embark on their first summer window since their transfer ban.
