Transfer policy changed, 2 right-backs could leave – Everton should consider Liverpool defender

|

Everton are on the hunt for a right-back this summer and have been linked with Emerson, Jesus Corona, Santiago Arias, Ola Aina, Bouna Sarr, and Matty Cash among others.

Liverpool Echo say the Toffees have changed their transfer policy due to dwindling finances from the Covid-19 pandemic, so they’ll be open to loan players, free transfers and swap deals.

Nathaniel Clyne is the most valuable Premier League right-back who will be a free agent next month, but signing a Liverpool player might prove controversial.

Clyne would improve the Everton squad, having made 103 appearances for Liverpool while scoring two goals and making five assists, but it remains to be seen if both parties would be open to the switch – Everton haven’t signed a player directly from Liverpool since the turn of the Millennium, as per Transfermarkt.

Clyne struggled with injuries on Merseyside, starting 18 games in the last two years, so he wouldn’t come without his risks. The England international wouldn’t break the bank, however, and has enough experience to make an instant impact.
