“Ain’t good enough”, “Class” – These Everton fans react to 21y/o’s act

A few Everton fans have been reacting on social media after Dominic Calvert-Lewin shared a shot of Tom Davies wearing a replica classic Duncan Ferguson jersey.

Calvert-Lewin posted the image on his personal Instagram stories feed following Saturday’s victory over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park, via The Toffees Blues, and captioned the post: “The night before three points”.

Calvert-Lewin started the Eagles clash for his 24th Premier League appearance of the term, and continued his supreme run of form under Carlo Ancelotti to record his sixth goal in eight top-flight games under the Italian.

The former England U21 international is now on eleven strikes for the top-flight term, to move within two of the hauls recorded by Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson last season to end the campaign as our joint-leading goalscorers.

Davies, though, has not been as instrumental to our efforts since Ancelotti took up his place in the dugout, having been omitted from the starting line-up in our last three league games after opening four of the Italian’s first five in charge.

Should Davies be starting under Ancelotti?

Yes

No

Davies was rarely out of the first-team picture before Ancelotti was announced as Marco Silva’s permanent replacement, as the Portuguese had trusted the 21-year-old to start his last seven league games at the helm while Ferguson favoured the midfielder in two of his three matches as interim head coach.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Calvert-Lewin’s post showing Davies in a replica Ferguson jersey, the day before he would only play the final 25 minutes against Crystal Palace having been left out of the squad to face Watford a week before…
