The Blues got off to a solid enough start in the circumstances as we drew 2-2 with Wolves on the opening weekend of the Premier League at Molineux.
The hosts were obviously excited about returning to the top flight and the pyrotechnics were going off before the game.
We did very well to keep a lid on things once the game kicked off, though, and were good value for the lead until Phil Jagielka’s dismissal.
From there, we needed to manage and control the game and I thought we actually did that well, too, with Wolves never really looking that much of a threat.
You’ve got to give Michael Keane credit, then, for the way he helped keep things together at the back – especially when his time here has not always been so solid.
And, with that in mind, here’s some of the best of what was said about him on Twitter after the game…
In all honesty I think we can be pleased overall with that. 10 men for 45 minutes was never going to be easy. Keane did well and work rate was very good. #Richarlison was all we hoped he would be. #EFC #COYB @Everton

Really good result that, never a red card, Keane played well, Richarlson looks like he could be incredible plus the 4 new boys to come in happy days #EFC #everton

Great game, attacked more under Silva with ten men than we have done in the last 2 seasons. (exaggerating)
Loads of positives. Actually thought Keane was very good for large parts. Walcott anonymous. Very positive & some of the letdowns from last season showing life. #EFC

Last season Everton would have collapsed within minutes of coming out for the second half. Great to see a change in mentality and have the players show some grit. Fair play to Michael Keane too, his best game for the club. This season will make or break his Everton career. #EFC

Whisper it quietly, but there might actually be a Footballer inside Michael Keane. Thought he played really well overall tonight #EFC

POSITIVE:
– Michael Keane
– Organisation of the team
– Baines still has a lot to offerNEGATIVE:
– Central midfield offer nothing offensively
– Tosun general all round play poor
– Decision making in key moments going forward #EFC— Danny Bostock (@Bozzy18) August 11, 2018
Under Allardyce or Koeman we would have sat back there. At least we still attacked and went for the win. Plenty of positive signs. And asides from the 2nd goal I thought Michael Keane his a solid game. Can’t wait for the next match! #EFC
