With long-standing defensive concerns at Everton, former Burnley defender Michael Keane has split the fanbase following his performances since his arrival.

He’s by no means the only culprit in the centre-half position but it’s not unfair to say he did struggle for consistency last season and although we did see some improvement in 2018/19, plenty wondered whether his head injury the other month would see him stall again.

Having come back slightly earlier than most probably expected him to, Keane has kicked on further and more than played his part in helping Everton to register a clean sheet in the recent victory over Fulham, and a number of fans were quick to praise his efforts alongside Kurt Zouma last weekend.

Fans on social media were pretty pleased with that quote and they certainly agreed with the sentiment that he was now far more consistently at his best for the club.

He’s not the first player to need some time to bed in and settle at a new club, but it does feel like he’s turned the corner now, but given what we saw from him at Burnley he’s not yet at his peak in my mind. He’s heading in the right direction now and he should be full of confidence so reaching another gear in the games to come should be only a matter of time.
