According to the Sun, Yerry Mina decided to join Everton over Manchester United thanks to the influence of Marco Silva.

The young manager has started pretty well at the club and I think it seems safe to say that as fans we are liking what he is doing.

Indeed, it also appears that the players are enjoying working for him already and it looks like he is doing well at getting them to join us.

This report, then, is suggesting that the Portuguese’s phone call to Mina expressing his desire for him to sign sealed the deal whilst Jose Mourinho of Manchester United decided not to do so.

Clearly, Silva is a modern manager who knows how to attract players and if he can start trumping Jose we should be in for a fun ride.

We won’t get everyone we go for but it is clear that we will get a fair amount of them.

  • Ridiculous!

With all the last minute faffing about by Woodward, eventually linking the club with just about every ‘rumoured possibly available’ 2nd/3rd tier CB (whose job it was to deliver a ‘first tier’ CB target), does anyone seriously expect Mourinho to stick his nose in, that late in the day, and talk to a host of potential CBs, when no agreement was in place between clubs, player and agent.

And how timely – only 3 weeks after the event.

No doubt loads of people who aren’t able to rationalise this crap for themselves, will be repeating it anyway, up and down the land.
