Lots of Everton fans have been reacting on social media after Alex Iwobi shared a two-word post urging supporters to stay at home and obey the UK government’s strict curb measures imposed to combat the spread of coronavirus.
Measures were put in place toward the end of March urging people to limit all movement to “absolutely necessary” trips to work, obtain food or fulfil any medical needs.
The pandemic has continued to worsen, however, with the Department of Health announcing on Thursday that as of 9am on April 2 there had been 33,718 confirmed cases while there had been 2,921 deaths as of 5pm on April 1.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has vowed to ramp up the number of tests being carried out in the UK after the World Health Organization declared that the one-millionth confirmed global case and 50,000th death is likely to come in the next few days.
People in the UK are continually being urged to stay at home to help the NHS and to help save lives, with Iwobi one of the latest sporting stars to come out and implore his following to adhere the advice.
In a simple two-word post on Twitter to his 784,000 followers, the £50,000-per-week winger noted: #StayHome
Many supporters responded to Iwobi’s post by telling the summer signing to also stay safe during these unprecedented times, although not all voiced the same tone.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Iwobi’s post…
