Everton confirm they’ll be without five players ahead of Tuesday evening’s meeting with Newcastle United – Richarlison (knee), Gylfi Sigurdsson (groin), Alex Iwobi (hamstring), Jean-Philippe Gbamin (thigh), Andre Gomes (ankle – while Michael Keane (neck) is doubtful.
Richarlison, who missed Everton’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United (January 18) with a knee injury, has returned to training but he’s still feeling pain and will sit out as a result. Sigurdsson has a groin injury which also caused him to miss the West Ham clash, but he should return next month.
Iwobi has almost recovered from a hamstring injury and has been back in training, but the 23-year-old is being afforded more time off to ensure he’s 100% upon his return.
Gbamin is still out following surgery on his thigh, but he’s doing some training with the team and is slowly nearing a return. Gomes is back in training and working on his conditioning before he’s in a position to feature again.
Keane has been struggling with a neck injury, but he could face Newcastle if he passes a late fitness test. Everton will decide on Tuesday if he’ll make the squad.
